PicoSure Laser in Toronto, ON

The PicoSure Laser is the worlds first picosecond aesthetic laser platform that can be used for a variety of purposes. It can be used for acne scars, skin rejuvenation, skin pigmentation issues and tattoo removal. Traditional skin rejuvenation laser treatments use photothermal action and deliver pulses in nanoseconds. The PicoSure Laser uses mainly photomechanical action and distributes pulses in picoseconds. In other words, the laser fires and delivers energy for an extremely short period of time. It is 1000 times faster then older lasers. These short energy bursts shatter and eliminate unwanted pigment without harming surrounding skin. Provoking a tissue reaction in the skin that leads to a reduction in pigmented skin lesions, smoothing of wrinkles, improved acne and other scars, and an increase in collagen and elastin. Leaving the skin looking brighter, smoother, and more youthful.

Is The PicoSure Laser Safe?

There are minimal risks associated with the PicoSure Laser. The PicoSure is safer than many alterative lasers that rely on heat to produce the results.

Which Areas Can Be Treated By The PicoSure Laser?

The PicoSure is very versatile it can be used on multiple areas of the body. Face, neck, chest, back, legs and arms.

How Many PicoSure Treatments Will I Need?

The recommended protocol for optimal results is 3-4 sessions at 4-week intervals. Depending on the severity of pigmentation more treatments may be required.

What Does The PicoSure Procedure Involve?

The Aesthetician/Nurse will cleanse your skin using chlorhexidine. The larger treatment areas will be divided in quadrants using a white pencil. Dividing the area into quadrants allows laser energy to be distributed effectively and efficiently. A slight snapping sound will be heard during the treatment as the laser is passed over the treatment area. Most patients do not require topical anesthesia for this treatment. The treatment causes mild discomfort, but the pain is relieved with the cooling air system. After the treatment a cooling gel is applied followed by Sunscreen.

What Are The Side Effects Of PicoSure?

Side effects can include temporary redness and swelling at the treatment site. The redness typically resolves in 3 hours but in some cases may linger for 24 hours. Typically, unwanted pigmentation may slightly frost (whiten) during treatment and may darken over the next 24 hours before fading away.

How Long Does PicoSure Treatment Take? When Will I See Results?

Depending on the targeted area the treatment can take 30-45 minutes. Most patients need multiple sessions to fully address their concerns. However, the skin can appear refreshed two weeks after treatment.

What Is The Cost Of PicoSure Laser Treatment?

Please contact us for the cost of treatment.

Can PicoSure Be Done The Same Day As A Facial, Botox, Dermal Fillers Treatment?

No. Facials, Botox and Dermal Filler treatments can resume one week after the PicoSure Laser.

Can I Get PicoSure Laser If I Am On Accutane?

No. Accutane must be stopped for 6 months prior to the PicoSure Laser.

Can I Continue Using Retinol Prior To The PicoSure?

It is recommended to stop any products containing Retinol one week prior to having a PicoSure treatment and can resume 1 week after.

When Can I Return To Normal Activities After PicoSure Laser Treatment?

Overall, the PicoSure Laser will not require much downtime. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities for the first 24hours. Make-up can be applied four hours after treatment. Following a PicoSure facial rejuvenation treatment, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure as the sun and its rays can be damaging to your face. Using sun protection at all times is recommended to avoid recurrence of the pigmentation.

How Do I Prepare For PicoSure Laser Treatment?

Please advise us prior to treatment if you have suffered in the past with cold sores on the skin or lips. This viral infection may be re-activated in these areas by laser treatments. You may be required to take an anti-viral medication such as Valtrex on the day of your treatment and for several days after your treatment.

No sun bathing, tanning beds or sunless tanning creams two weeks before and four weeks after your laser treatment. The presence of any tan decreases the effectiveness of the laser and can increase the chance of post-treatment complications.
