What is Body Contouring?
Body contouring is any treatment that refines the shape of one or more areas of your body. There are several ways that plastic surgeons achieve beautiful results. Most work by eliminating stubborn fat or tightening and lifting certain body parts. More recently, various technologies have been developed to achieve impressive body contouring results without surgery. CoolSculpting and Emsculpt are two of them. We are proud to offer these proven options for fat reduction and muscle tightening. Contact us at (416) 925-5775 to learn more!
What is Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting is a high-tech fat-freezing device that has been sculpting bodies all around the world for the last several years. It works by targeting a localized area of fat cells and altering their temperature. At the precise temperature, fat cells develop crystals that destroy their membranes. These destroyed cells are flushed from the body, never to return!
What Areas can Coolsculpting Treat?
As the CoolSculpting treatment has become more popular, the device manufacturer has made improvements. One of the has been to expand the options for applicator sizes. With a broader selection, the CoolSculpting device can treat a variety of areas, including the following:
- Abdomen
- Inner and outer thighs
- Flanks (love handles)
- Back fat
- Bra fat
- Backs of the arms
- Fat under the buttocks
- Double chin fat
What is Emsculpt?
Emsculpt is a body contouring treatment developed by the makers of the CoolSculpting device. It works differently than CoolSculpting, with the objective being to tighten muscle tissue in a targeted area. Currently, Emsculpt is performed on the buttocks, abdomen, thighs, calves, and arms. The process of muscle tightening is stimulated by High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic technology (HIFEM). During your sessions, this technology causes deep, involuntary muscle contractions. Not just a few, but about 20,000 in a matter of about 30 minutes! Studies performed on Emsculpt confirm the efficacy of this approach to body contouring. Patients in clinical trials experienced about 19% more muscle tone. Additionally, they burned off about 15% of the fat near the treated area. While Emsculpt can work against unwanted fat, it is primarily designed for muscle tightening. If you have an excess of fatty tissue, you can combine CoolSculpting with Emsculpt to achieve even better results.
How Does Emsculpt Work?
The HIFEM technology that drives the Emsculpt treatment works by inducing rapid, nonstop contractions in the target muscles. For the duration of the 30-minute treatment, the muscles cannot relax fully. This triggers a strong fat-burning, muscle-building response. When you engage in exercise, your body rebuilds the muscle tissue that has been stressed. The result is an increase in strength and muscle firmness. Emsculpt stimulates this same natural firming and strengthening, only without you having to lift a finger.
How Do I Know Which Body Contouring Treatment is Right for Me?
You can know which body contouring treatment is right for you by consulting with an experienced professional! CoolSculpting and Emsculpt are suitable for most adults who have some stubborn fat and loose muscle to address. If your BMI is within normal range and you can "pinch an inch" of fat in one or more areas of your body, either of these treatments may achieve very satisfying results for you.
