Over time, signs of aging start to appear because of sun exposure, the effects of gravity and the aging process. The texture, pigmentation and tone of your skin can be affected. Resulting in unwelcome fine lines, sun spots and wrinkles. The SmartSkin+ Laser can help reduce the signs of aging.
The SmartSkin+ Laser rejuvenates and restores skin to a smoother and more youthful look. It is the most innovative, customizable micro-ablative Laser available. Unlike other systems that have ‘one-size-fits-all’ settings, SmartSkin+ can be entirely customizable towards your cosmetic goals and downtime requirements.
The SmartSkin+ penetrates beneath your skin’s surface delivering tiny microscopic laser beams, to ablate areas of damage. The body’s natural healing process then builds new healthy cells to take their place. The result is smoother more youthful skin.
Benefits of the CO2 SmartSkin+ treatment:
- Improves skin tone and texture
- Rejuvenates neck, décolleté, aging hands, and other areas of the body
- Tightens pores and skin
- Collagen rejuvenation
- Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- refreshed and rejuvenated look.
Who can have this treatment?
Not all skin types react in the same way to cosmetic treatments. Only a qualified medical professional can determine if you are suitable for this treatment. A history of poor wound healing, keloids, or hypertrophic scarring may be an indication to avoid this treatment.
Which areas can be treated?
Face, Neckline, and Décolleté.
How many treatments will I need? How long will the results last?
Typically, only one treatment is needed for desired results. However, since the treatments can be adjusted to your cosmetic and downtime needs, you can also decide to have two or three “lighter” treatments. With correct skin care, protection, and maintenance, results often last years.
What does the procedure involve?
The Skin is cleansed, and topical numbing cream is applied. A chiller is used during the procedure to cool the treatment area, which makes the treatment more comfortable. The Length of the procedure depends on the area being treated, a full facial treatment may require up to 60 minutes.
What are the side effects?
Your skin will be red and feel tender, like a sunburn, for about one week after the procedure. You may experience pinpoint bleeding and swelling, which is completely normal. Within a few days, you may start to notice some flaking and peeling on the skin’s surface as the treated cells begin to shed and reveal the more youthful skin cells below. Once the peeling is completed and the redness subsides, you should see a noticeably smoother complexion with fewer lines and other irregularities than before your treatment.
When will I see results?
Immediately after your first treatment your skin will feel smoother, look brighter and the tone will become more even at 1 week. However, you will see the most benefit over the next 6 months as your skin continues to produce more collagen.
What is the cost of this treatment?
Please contact us for the cost of CO2 SmartSkin+ Laser treatment with the Nurse or Dr. Motakis.
Can this treatment be done the same day as a Facial or Injectables Treatment?
No. Facials, Botox and Dermal Filler treatments can resume 3 weeks after this treatment.
Can I get this treatment if I am on Accutane?
No. Accutane must be stopped for 6 months prior to this Laser
Can I continue using Retinol prior to CO2 SmartSkin+?
It is recommended to stop any products containing Retinol 1 week prior to the Laser treatment and can resume 3 weeks after.
How much downtime? When can I return to Normal Activities?
The “downtime” will vary depending on the settings used, which will be determined taking into account your cosmetic expectations and downtime needs. The downtime can be from 2-7days. Avoid any vigorous exercising and sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment. No swimming or using hot tubs/whirlpools while redness is present, usually for at least 24-48 hours.
When is the best time to have this treatment?
We recommend laser resurfacing during the winter months because after your treatment, you need to avoid the sun. Winter’s short, cold days make it easier to stay out of the sun. Immediately following your treatment and for several weeks afterwards, your new skin is much more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays, and when you go outside you must wear sunscreen even in the winter months.
Do I need to do anything in preparation for this treatment?
Yes. Sun exposure should be avoided 2 weeks prior to this laser treatment. Dr. Motakis recommends that patients start on a pigment skin care protocol 4 weeks prior to this treatment. Please advise us prior to treatment if you have suffered in the past with cold sores on the skin or lips. This viral infection may be re-activated by this treatment. You may be required to take an anti-viral medication such as Valtrex on the day of your treatment and for several days after your treatment.
