Cosmetic Injectables & Dermal Fillers

As we age our skin undergoes numerous changes affecting its texture, volume and appearance. Changes such as volume loss, reduced skin laxity, wrinkles, and unwanted folds and creases can be very distressing for patients. Dr. Motakis has a variety of non-surgical treatments that can help restore a smoother, more youthful facial appearance.

Here is a list of the cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers that we offer in our Toronto office:

Do Cosmetic Injections And Dermal Fillers Look Natural?

The goal of cosmetic injectables is no different than the goals of plastic surgery. The primary objective is to acheive results that look natural for your face or body. Before performing your treatment, Dr. Motakis spends time listening to your objectives. The information obtained through your conversation together is used to build out the ideal treatment plan for you, right down to the last detail. We understand that there was a time when injectable treatments were used to procure results that were somewhat exaggerated. For example, lip filler techniques looked like you had lip fillers! What we want to accomplish is the kind of enhancement that looks organic, like you were born with those amazing facial contours.

Look like You, only younger. Contact us at (416) 925-5775 to schedule your consultation for injectable treatment.

How Long Do The Results Of Dermal Fillers Last?

In most cases, the results of dermal filler treatment are immediately noticeable. Sculptra is the exception. This product is more of a collagen-stimulator that gradually revitalizes the skin. With other treatments, you get the immediate gratification that you want, plus results that can last from one to two years.

Are There Any Risks To Cosmetic Injections Or Dermal Fillers?

One of the advantages of non-surgical treatments is that there are limited risks involved in the various procedures. Dermal fillers and other injectable treatments are not significantly different than having blood drawn or getting a shot. Because the skin is broken, there is a risk of infection. However, the puncture wound is quite tiny, so the risk is minuscule at best. While injectable treatments are viewed as very conservative, it is important that you seek out a qualified provider. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Motakis is deeply familiar with facial anatomy. He is aware of the potential for accidental injection into a blood vessel and uses extraordinary care to avoid vulnerable areas. Therefore, the risk of excessive swelling, bleeding, and bruising are reduced.

Are These Injections Painful?

Injectable treatments are extremely popular not only because they do not carry the degree of risk that surgery does but also because they are remarkably comfortable. The doctor administers injectables using a fine needle along with a very gentle technique. Some products contain a mild anesthetic, as well, to manage comfort from the very first injection. If you are concerned about how it will feel to receive dermal fillers or other injectables, talk to us! We want you to feel confident in our efforts to make you comfortable and are happy to discuss ways in which we can do so.
